Job Description

A Building Services Worker in this position will work weekend and holidays to provide opening and closing functions at the cemetery, a point of public information contact, and light maintenance and housekeeping services related to cemetery buildings and grounds. The worker will carry out these duties independently as the sole employee on the site. As such, a great level of trust is placed in the employee to report to work in timely manner to open the cemetery, to remain available for public contact throughout the day, to conduct productive housekeeping and maintenance services when not involved with the public, and to ensure the cemetery facilities are secure at the time of closing. Employees receive general supervision from a Cemetery Supervisor. The employee may be exposed to some dirty and/or uncomfortable conditions, such as extreme heat and cold. The work may require the use of protective equipment such as gloves, masks, goggles, when performing maintenance duties. The employee’s may be required to move certain pieces of furniture or other objects in order to carry out housekeeping actions.

Qualifications

- The ability to work independently and consistently in the completion of assigned tasks. - The ability to complete various housekeeping and cleaning tasks while also documentin g work accomplishments in writing. -The willingness and ability to communicate effectively with the public in providing assistance with grave locations and the explanation of cemetery policies and guidelines. - Employee must have a reliable means of transportation and be able to report to work on time as scheduled working from 7:45 am until 5:00 pm on weekends and holidays
